Why Does America continue to fund Israeli Destruction?

I cannot understand America's thinking. As you say America gives Israel $billions a year to buy bombs from them and with the other hand spends millions repairing the damage these very bombs have caused and when,if ever, its all rebuilt whats to stop from Israel doing the very same thing all over again .? And Americans wonder why they are in a recession.?
