Had an itchy rectum but I got it to go away!?

I had an itchy -hole it was going on for 3 days it was so itchy it was waking me up at all nights of the early morning like 3 and 4am so I went to my doctors he didnt examine it but he thought it might be because of a yeast infection he told me to use preparation h that didn't work for me the itching became progressively worse so I went to the ER the doctor there did examine it and told me nothing was visibly wrong he told me to take allergy medicine and to use cortizone cream I did that day and it went away and never came back..... very weird!
